Question:
If I have an awesome website, that I think advertisers will really want to advertise on, how do I:
a) Make my website “banner ad” capable?
and
b) Track the activity (is DoubleClick the only option?).
Answer:
DoubleClick is owned and operated by Google. It’s not for casual website owners. It’s for gigantic ad networks (who sell ads to Advertisers) to get their content included in the Google Display Network. If you want to be a Publisher to have those ads display on your site to earn money from clicks, you have to have MILLIONS of impressions a month. If you have that kind of traffic, click here to contact a DoubleClick Publisher Sales Rep.
If you don’t have that kind of traffic, then you’ll need a Google Adsense account to have ads displayed on your site. Microsoft pubCenter is another one, but they are still in the pilot phase. pubCenter is to Microsoft AdCenter like AdSense is to AdWords.
With an Adsense account you can insert the code into your pages and ads relative to your content OR to visitors’ interest will display on your page.
