AdSense With iPage Web Hosting – Can I Do It?

Question:

I have a wordpress.com blog and i want to but adsense on it, but they don’t allow it. People said I have to get my own web hosting and do something called a self-hosted wordpress blog. I found something called iPage and you can put wordpress on it.  Has anyone used iPage? My question is, do they allow adsense? If not, do you know of any hosting that does?

Answer:

Yes, iPage web hosting does allow Adsense on any site or blog you have with them. WordPress is also very easy to install. After you get the hosting account from iPage, just login to web hosting control panel and look for the SimpleScripts script installer. It’s in the Scripting and Add-Ons section. Click on SimpleScripts, when it opens, you’ll find the WordPress installer on the left side in the Blogs section.

Putting AdSense in WordPress

Just to be sure we’re on the same page here, I’m talking about a self-hosted WordPress blog, not a WordPress.com blog.

Inserting Adsense code into a WordPress post must be done on the HTML tab in the editor. Now back in the day there were problems with WordPress stripping out code so I used a plugin for it. WordPress plays a lot nicer now than it did back then so you might not have any problems with it, but to be honest with you, I still use the plugins to control my ads.

Once you install WordPress, go to the Dashboard: Plugins: Add New and search for a plugin called Advertisement Management. Then activate it. Then go to Settings: Advertisment Management and put your Adsense code in there.  

Another plugin I like is called WP-Insert. It works sorta like Advertisement Management, but it also lets you exclude the display of ads on select pages and posts.
